DeskSync

DeskSync is a Windows desktop app for sticky notes, schedules, reminders, tray access, uploaded alarm sounds, and desktop right-click integration.

The app title is DeskSync and the product experience is Desktop Notes & Schedule.

Features

Requirements

Install

npm install

Run in development

npm run dev

Build

npm run dist

The installer and unpacked app are written to release/.

Desktop right-click integration

DeskSync installs registry keys only under HKCU, so admin rights are not required. The integration adds:

Install after building:

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File scripts/install-context-menu.ps1 -AppPath ".\release\win-unpacked\DeskSync.exe"

Remove:

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File scripts/uninstall-context-menu.ps1

The app also exposes the same install/remove actions in Settings. If Explorer does not show the new entries immediately, restart Explorer or sign out and back in.

How the New menu launch works

DeskSync registers ShellNew entries for .desksync-note and .desksync-schedule with labels Sticky Notes and Schedule. The entries include a direct command to launch DeskSync from the New menu. DeskSync also watches for .desksync-note or .desksync-schedule marker files on the Desktop as a fallback and removes them after opening the matching desktop sticky.

Data storage

DeskSync stores data locally in:

%APPDATA%\DeskSync\DeskSync.sqlite
%APPDATA%\DeskSync\sounds\

Stored data includes notes, note bounds, colors, alarms, schedules, uploaded alarm sound metadata, and settings.
